Up until this home, our big dream was to one day have a nicely painted red door. Now, we’ve found ourselves in a crazy world of custom front doors. Wood, glass, aluminum, super wide, pivoting, double, and on and on. And how does it relate to everything else going on around it? So many choices. Our architect has helped us get some focus though and we are now down to the (tentative) final four.

I realize it may be hard to even notice a difference at first glance. But look at the window above it. That’s 8′. Look at the windows along side it. The window sills could be matched with a horizontal line in the door. But 8′ is a pretty wide space for doors. Maybe just matching two of the windows above works? Or maybe just sticking to a double set of 3’6″ doors works (especially because going over 3’6″ doubles the price!)?

When you’ve been as immersed in details as we have, every little thing starts to jump out at me, and I find myself worried that I’ll make a decision we’ll be looking at for years with only myself to blame!
